Olympic figure skating competition has been one honorary title for ice skating professionals. Those who have participated ad won the game, have their dresses made to compliment their skating style and skills. Here are the top dresses worn in figure skating.

· 1924 Winter Olympic, France – The first Winter Olympic. Sonja Henie, an 11 year old Norwegian skater who wore a stripes sweater and a pleated skirt with white beret, a round soft hat. She wore the same costume when she was 14 years old in the next Olympic and won a gold.

· 1928 Winter Olympics, Switzerland – Hilda Ruckert and Howard Nicholson are both Swiss and wearing a Swiss outfit too. They are wearing embroidered vests with fur and fur hats too.

· 1936 Winter Olympics, Germany – Vera Hruba a figure skater and late on she became an actress during Hitler time. Her costume featured a color block polo with oversize buttons and flowing skirt.

· 1936 Winter Olympics, Germany – Sonja Henie a Norwegian wearing an all-white nautical dress with knit mittens, dark tights and a hat. She was a three time Olympic Champion and six time European Champion and later on she became an actress.

· 1936 Winter Olympics, Germany – Maxi Herber, a German figure skater wore comfy knit sweater and plaid skirt. A youngest figure skater Olympic champion at the age of 15.

· 1948 Winter Olympics, Switzerland – Gretchen Merrill, an American figure skater wearing white long-sleeve with buttons, belt and pleated skirt. She was inducted at United States Figure Skating Hall of Fame in 2000

· 1948 Winter Olympic, Switzerland – Barbara Ann Scott a Canadian skater who wore a pearl necklace, a hat and all white long sleeve dress costume. She won gold at the age of 19 at Winter Olympics. Due to her popularity the Canadian toy company make dolls in her likeness.

· 1952 Winter Olympics, Norway – Jeannette Altwegg a British skater who wore a printed satin number with a box pleated skirt and won an Olympic gold. She was awarded the order of the British Empire after 1 year. She was inducted into World Figure Skating Hall of Fame.

· 1968 Winter Olympics, France – Gabriele Seyfert, a German who won a silver medal wearing blue dress. Peggy Fleming an American who won gold wearing green dress and Hana Maskova a Czech who won bronze and wearing a pink outfit with fluffy trim. The Trio during Olympics in France.

· 1972 Winter Olympics, Japan – Karen Magnussen a Canadian with an umbrella as props, wearing bold red costume with balloon sleeves and embellished neckline. A silver medalist and made an Officer of the Order of Canada

· 1976 Winter Olympics, Austria – American Skater, Dorothy Hamill won gold wearing a fuchsia V-neck costume. She performed a new skating move and called it “Hamill camel” a spin followed by a sit spin.


· 1984 Winter Olympics, Yugoslavia – Lea Ann Miller an American skater who wear a wintery blue beaded with a plunging V-neck and flowing skirt that looked like an actual ice princess.

· Knut Schubert and Birgit Lorenz from Germany wearing a retro green and pink with geometric lines.

· Tiffany Chin an American, wearing an elegant sky blue scoop neck outfit with floral designs along the neck to sleeves.

· 1988 Winter Olympic, Canada – Katarina Witt, German figure skater wearing a flamenco black and red outfit with frilly sleeves. She won an Olympic gold medal.
